Ideal Beds was set up as a separate entity in Ramparts Business Park, Berwick Upon Tweed in Autumn 2009 as a result of customer requests for beds at Ideal Carpets growing to a level where it was no longer possible to offer our customers the service and variety that they deserved because of the limitations of space.

Despite being in the depths of the deepest recession in living memory, owner Dennis Hush took the brave step of taking over a redundant warehouse, and set about transforming it into the only dedicated bed showroom within North Northumberland and the Eastern Borders.

"For many years customers have been coming to Ideal Carpets, and going away delighted with their purchases and the high degree of customer satisfaction that we deliver. Again and again though, we were being asked for two things - Beds and Suites. In 2006 we made a conscious decision to diversify into one or the other. After spending most of the year looking at all that was involved, and checking the reliability and quality of suppliers, we opted to go down the avenue of retailing a carefully selected range of beds that offered genuine quality at value for money prices, on short lead times - the basis on which we had built and grown Ideal Carpets." explains Dennis.

"We always planned to grow at a pace that we were comfortable with, limiting our sales so that we could remain focused on the quality of service, rather than simply selling as many beds as we could. By Autumn 2009 our bed department within North Road had reached capacity and so we made the decision to open a sister company, Ideal Beds at Ramparts Business Park. After giving the building a thorough makeover, and a period of intense staff training, we opened the doors in October 2009.

With almost 50 beds and frames on display, we believe that we offer the areas most comprehensive range, and with easy parking at the door we aim to make the bed buying process as simple and painless as possible."
